Catalina Fleet 9 January 2005 Cruise

Catalina Fleet 9 January 2005 Cruise

11 boats converged on Marina Village Yacht Harbor on January 15, 2005. Seven were stern tied to the guest dock and four remained in their berths close by. All were tied down by 1300 and the majority of the group proceeded by car to visit the USS Hornet, a highly decorated WWII carrier berthed in Alameda. A wonderful progressive potluck dinner was the entertainment of the evening, cast with the backdrop of a wonderful sunset. Sunday morning brought a quick breakfast, then a workshop with emphasis on Close Quarter Maneuvering. Most of the skippers practiced a back and fill turn, parallel parking using a bow warp line and finally warping out of the tieup using bow and stern warp lines The cruise was organized by Jody and Arnie Leonard assisted by Joan Carolan. The Workshop was organized by Jim Carolan and Mike Joyce. God arranged the beautiful day and sunset Saturday evening. Thanks to all who assisted and participated. Images are by Jim and Joan Carolan.
