Jeff,
The diesel class was great. Thanks for organizing it.
One thing I wanted to let you know was about throttle cables that slip. My
1989 has an adjustment screw in the Edson compass pedestal that tightens
down on the shaft that the throttle lever is connected to. To make the
adjustment you need to lift off the compass off the pedestal (first mark the
compass and pedestal with a piece of masking tape so you can align compass
binnacle correctly during reassembly). Inside the pedestal on the starboard
side is an adjustment screw, or actually a bolt. The bolt.is on top of the
housing that the throttle shaft passes through. There is a locking screw and
the adjustment bolt on the housing for the throttle shaft. Just take a
little turn on the bolt and there is no need to put a clamp on the throttle
cable. Maybe you could pass this on to other Fleet 9 members who might be
interested in solving the throttle creep problem.
The Fleet 9 dinner was fun. Tell Mary thanks for the encouraging words to
Jan about sailing and Fleet 9 cruises. We will make a sailor out of her
yet.
ttyl,
Sean Gabe.
