About Us
Catalina 36 Fleet 9 was organized
in 1992 and has since grown to about 90 members and 40 boats.
Members live throughout the Bay region from Santa Cruz to Fresno.
Almost all our boats are moored in San Francisco Bay and the adjacent waters.
Most boats in the Fleet are Catalina 36s ranging in age from one of the earliest - hull # 6 - to the most recent. One of our boats sailed in the '98 Pacific Cup race to Hawaii, and another actively races using some crew from the fleet. The rest of us are cruisers. We are not an exclusive fleet. A few members have moved to larger Catalina's, or bought boats from other builders. They wanted to continue sailing with us and we welcome them. We're a friendly, easy-going group that is comfortably informal.
Each year we organize about 12 cruises. In addition to, and sometimes in conjunction with, the cruises we organize workshops to focus on specific sailing skills. A few cruises are in the winter, but most are during the warmer months and usually occupy a weekend. Click on the Cruise Schedule button to see this year's cruises. The longest trip is to Monterey and Still Water Cove. We also have one or more cruises into the Delta. If you would like to join Fleet 9, there's an application form on the Join Fleet 9 page.
